Is an NPM event required to get an alert in the alertstatus table

Hey all,

Another question about Alerts. Are alerts put into the AlertStatus table if no NPM Event is created? In other words, if our only Alert Action is to run an external application, is an alert still supposed to show up in the AlertStatus table?
